List of 10 public/restructured hospitals in Singapore
The public hospitals in Singapore are also known as restructured hospitals that are wholly owned by the government but restructured to run as private companies. Regardless of their ability to afford it, public hospitals run with an aim that everybody can have access.
However, the government-based savings scheme and health insurance plan are eligible for Singaporean citizens and permanent residents only. The expatriates have different charges for the treatment services. The public hospitals are categorized into three regional clusters:
Central region: National Healthcare Group (NHG) and the Alexandra Health System;
Eastern region: Singapore Health Services(SingHealth) and the Eastern Health Alliance (EHA);
Western region: National University Health System (NUHS) and Jurong Health Services (JurongHealth).
Alexandra Hospital
It is a 326-bedder facility registered under NUHS (National University Health System). It claims to be the first integrated general hospital to provide care across all settings from acute to rehabilitative stage, allowing the patients to be treated in the same setting rather than being transferred to another.

Being a member of SingHealth cluster of healthcare institutions, Changi Hospital is an academic medical institution. It hosts 1000 beds, 130 consultation rooms for specialist outpatient care and minor surgeries.

Opened in June 1985, it was Singapore’s first restructured hospital. Being a tertiary hospital, it is a major referral center with 50 medical, surgical, and dental specialists. It is the only public hospital in Singapore offering a pediatric kidney and liver transplant programme. It is a member of NUHS and attends to more than a million patients each year.
