Founded in 1927, the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) is an independent association representing the world’s leading life insurance and financial services professionals.
It is internationally recognised as the standard of excellence in the financial services industry. The organisation provides its members with a platform to share knowledge, improve technical competence, and uphold the highest ethical standards. Today, achieving MDRT status is a universally accepted mark of professional excellence, demonstrating that an advisor has met stringent production requirements and demonstrated exceptional client service.
There are three distinct tiers of MDRT membership, each reflecting a different level of production achievement. Progressing through these levels requires significant dedication and consistent business growth.
To qualify for MDRT in Malaysia, financial professionals can choose one of three production methods: Commission, Income, or Premium. While the global base targets are set in US Dollars (USD), they are adjusted for local markets using official MDRT conversion and standardisation factors.
For the 2026 membership year (based on 2025 production), the global base targets are USD 87,000 for Commission, USD 151,000 for Income, and USD 174,000 for Premium. In Malaysia, advisors track their goals in Ringgit (RM). Based on current local estimations, the Ringgit production targets typically stand at:
| Membership Level | Commission Method (Estimated RM) | Income Method (Estimated RM) | Premium Method (Estimated RM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| MDRT | 193,500 | 335,800 | 387,000 |
| Court of the Table (COT) | 580,500 | 1,007,400 | 1,161,000 |
| Top of the Table (TOT) | 1,161,000 | 2,014,800 | 2,322,000 |
Note: These RM figures are standard industry approximations. Applicants should always refer to the official 2026/2027 MDRT monthly goal charts and conversion factors to verify their exact Ringgit targets before submission.
Meeting your production targets is only one pillar of achieving MDRT status; strict adherence to ethical standards is equally mandatory. The organisation places heavy emphasis on integrity and professional conduct.
Securing MDRT membership opens the door to numerous professional advantages that can significantly accelerate an advisor’s career trajectory.
The MDRT Academy is a specialised community designed for financial professionals who are actively working towards full MDRT qualification but have not yet met the production requirements.
It provides next-level knowledge, goal-tracking tools, and exclusive resources to help up-and-coming agents scale their businesses and reach MDRT-level production. Members of the Academy also gain valuable insights from established MDRT qualifiers, acting as a structured stepping stone towards achieving full membership.
Once an advisor has met the required production thresholds and ethical standards, they must formally apply to be recognised as a member for the upcoming year.
The MDRT Academy is an association designed specifically to offer next-level knowledge and resources for financial professionals in Malaysia who are actively working towards reaching full MDRT-level production.
While the baseline production requirements are set in US Dollars (USD), MDRT uses specific conversion and standardisation factors for local currencies, such as the Malaysian Ringgit (RM). This ensures fairness across different global markets.
COT stands for Court of the Table, which requires an advisor to achieve three times the base MDRT production. TOT stands for Top of the Table, the highest tier, which requires six times the base production requirement.
Malaysian financial professionals can choose to qualify using the Commission, Income, or Premium method. You should select the method where your verified production figures first meet or exceed the official local Ringgit targets set for that year.
